The problem
A creator rewrote her opening line three times and finally got 2s view from 30% to 52%. She is proud of it, and she should be. But orders did not move.
The brand is asking why the “better hook” did nothing, and she is starting to think hooks do not matter.
2s view is the share of people who did not scroll past in the first two seconds. That is the stop. It is real and a video needs it. But a stop can be bought with a loud noise, a face, a number on screen. None of that is a promise about the product.
6s view is the share still there four seconds later. The people who stopped and then decided to stay. If most of the people who stopped are gone by six seconds, the opening promised something the next four seconds did not deliver. Verdict calls that stretch the Payoff.
A good hook is a high 2s view and a good payoff. One without the other is a trick, and tricks do not sell.
The example
Her three openings on the same video body. 2s view goes up every time. Watch what 6s view does.
Version 1 stopped the fewest people, but almost everyone it stopped stayed. It was honest about what the video was. It just was not loud enough. The fix is not to go back to it. It is to keep V1’s promise and give it V2’s energy: say what the video delivers, out loud, in the first two seconds, then deliver it.
Do this in Verdict
- 1Open Video Breakdown, paste the link, and look at the retention chart. A high start that falls off a cliff before six seconds is the V3 shape.
- 2In the Leak Finder the same read is two stages on the funnel: Hook and Payoff. Hook green and Payoff red is this lesson.
- 3Send the creator the Payoff line, not the Hook line. The hook is the part she already fixed.
