The problem
A creator posts a video, it gets a hundred thousand views, and it sells twelve units. She thinks the video is broken. The brand thinks the creator is broken. Neither of them can say where the other ninety-nine thousand people went.
Old marketers drew the path like this: ad, then landing page, then sales page, then checkout. You lose people at every arrow. A TikTok Shop video works the same way. It just happens inside one clip.
Here is the part that matters. When people leave at a step, there are only two reasons:
- Too much friction. Something got in the way. The hook was confusing. The product was not clear. The claim felt fake.
- Not enough pull. Nothing carried them forward. They watched, shrugged, and kept scrolling.
Every fix you will ever make comes down to one of those two. Remove a thing that gets in the way, or add a reason to keep going.
The example
Two videos on the same serum, both with strong hooks and both with a hundred thousand views. One sold twelve. One sold two hundred. The difference is not the hook and not the product. It is one step.
Once you can see the funnel, “it got views but didn’t sell” stops being a mystery. It is a step with a name. The rest of Verdict U is about what to do once you can see it.
Do this in Verdict
- 1Open the Leak Finder and pick one video. The row shows its funnel, one colour per step.
- 2Find the step where the bar drops hardest. That is where your people are leaving.
- 3Ask which of the two reasons it is. Friction, or not enough pull. The fix is the opposite of the answer.
The step names in Verdict are Hook, Payoff, Body, Finish, Click and Convert. The first two are 2s view and 6s view in Seller Center. Same numbers, in the order a viewer meets them.
