The problem
A product has been a hit for a year. Big accounts have made real money on it. It is proven. Your creator makes a video. It barely sells. Nothing was wrong with the video.
A product’s history tells you about the product. It does not tell you whether there is room left. Do not look at the biggest videos. Look at the newest ones, from creators who are not the big accounts. Are they clearing the money line?
- Most of them: open. Take the slot.
- Some: fine, but bring something new.
- Almost none: the door closed. The winners you saw were early.
The example
Two products with the same total sales this year.
| Product A | Product B | |
|---|---|---|
| Sales, 12 months | $410K | $390K |
| Biggest few accounts' share | 30% | 74% |
| Last 50 new videos above the line | 31 | 4 |
| New creators in 30 days | 180 | 610 |
- Looks huge
- A few accounts own it, and 610 new people just tried and four made it
- A locked door with a line outside
- A smaller top and room underneath
- The next creator has a real shot
Sometimes the product is fine and the angle is done. Every video on it is the same “I was skeptical” script. New copies get views and no sales. That is not bad timing for the product. It is bad timing for that script, and a fresh angle can reopen it.
Do this in Verdict
- 1The Pre-Slot Screener splits a product two ways: is money already flowing, and is the pool open or locked.
- 2A proven-and-locked product shows what a normal entrant makes today. If that is under the money line, the slot goes elsewhere.
